It’s not difficult to find good food in the City, what is hard is to find a restaurant with good food at prices that are not eye watering. The Listing, the newest addition to the Drake and Morgan range, fits this bill. Offering anything and everything from drinks to brunch, lunch and dinner, the restaurant is perfect for impromptu catch-ups with friends and work colleagues. We visited The Listing late in December, a few weeks after it opened and after three courses, we were pleasantly surprised. With its alpine-lodge feel and blankets upon arrival, The Listing has a cosy ambience, far away from the usual corporate settings in the city.

A good test of any restaurant is how it cooks its steak. We ordered the 10 ounce Rib-Eye, which certainly didn’t disappoint. Juicy and succulent, at £19, this was a mouth watering dish at wallet friendly prices. The menu itself is broad, offering dishes such as sea-bass, vegetable curry to a range of burgers. Perhaps the only drawback was our dessert. Having ordered the Tipsy Affogato, (Vanilla ice cream with espresso, kahlua & amaretto), the ice cream had mostly melted by the time it reached us. A minor issue, this did not detract from the sweet taste.

As cocktails lovers, the stand out was the Bramble Forest. Made from Beckett’s gin, lime, sugar syrup, raspberries, blackberries and coriander this was a palate tingling cocktail that had us ordering glass after glass.

What can sometimes lack in City restaurants is the service, but at the Listing there were no such problems. We had an attentive waiter who provided friendly service and even offered different seats to ensure our comfort.

As City restaurants go, The Listing most definitely impressed us and we look forward to going back soon.
