From time to time it’s necessary to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city and venture to pastures green (Rural Gent will testify to that). With this in mind, I happily accepted an invitation from the good people at Ox Pasture Hall hotel in Scarborough to spend an evening in their luxury suite.

Hidden away on a village road, Ox Pasture Hall is not your typical hotel; a former country farmhouse surrounded by barns and out-buildings, it has been transformed into a luxurious 32 roomed haven for rest and recuperation.

Visiting with my girlfriend, we were greeted by friendly staff upon arrival at our hotel, showing us to our suite – an impressive room with separate lounge area. Following this, afternoon tea was served with freshly baked scones, a selection of sandwiches and desserts.

Hosting a Michelin recommended restaurant, our expectations were high for dinner. With a wide range to choose from on the menu, the freshly made Yorkshire lamb main certainly exceeded our expectations, complemented as one would expect with a bottle of wine.

The beauty of Ox Pasture Hall is in the relaxed simplicity that it offers. After dinner and in fact for the most part of the day, the hotel lounge is available for you to relax by the fireplace. Following a tasty breakfast the following morning we were reluctant to leave.

If you are looking for a country retreat or weekend break then Ox Pasture Hall should be high on your list. For availability and more information visit the Ox Pasture Hall website.
